- ➤ Hidalgo County invites locals to join Paws at the Park on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Bill Schupp Park where free microchipping for the first 200 pre-registered dogs + pet adoptions will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon as part of responsible pet ownership month. KRGV

- ➤ Amanda Marszalik, a South Texas ISD science teacher and coach, completed the Chicago Marathon in 2024 and now plans a 200K ultramarathon in July to seek sponsorship (her twin sons whom she inspires helped test her family strength). - ➤ Edcouch-Elsa cross country runner Juan Aguinaga Jr. signed to run at Western Texas College on Wednesday, Jan. 21 — his record includes four All-District selections and a first-team All-State honor last year. He trusts his new coach to shape his future as an elite runner. KRGV
