- ➤ Edinburg crews will begin work on a new trail along Freddy Gonzalez Drive between Closner Boulevard and the Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium, letting neighbors bike or walk to UTRGV football games; the million-dollar project, funded mainly through (federal and state grants), is set to finish by late September. - ➤ Mission runner Carolina Villalpando, a mother & longtime competitor, qualified for the Boston Marathon by finishing the Houston Marathon in a qualifying time with five minutes to spare & will race next year. KRGV
- ➤ Hidalgo won the first district series game against Valley View at Bill Pate Stadium on Friday night. The match set an upbeat tone as the teams showed strong play throughout. KRGV
