EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV sprinter Nayla Harris set a record of 7.18 in the 60m dash last week and will become the first Vaquero woman in 20 years to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. She will compete in Fayetteville on Friday, March 13 (joining 15 other athletes). KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV’s men and women’s basketball teams earned four All-Conference awards as O’Keefe, Ingram, Cotton (first-team and All-Defensive) and Brankovic received honors on Friday. The teams will start the Southland Conference Tournament next week in Lake Charles (men begin Monday at 7:30, women Tuesday at 11:00). KRGV
- ➤ Pioneer boys soccer (one win away from its first district title) defeated Rowe 3-0 in a pivotal match that boosts their season prospects. KRGV
- ➤ On Friday, Weslaco beat Sharyland Pioneer & La Joya beat Edinburg Vela at the Edinburg Baseball Tournament. KRGV
