- ➤ A brush fire near the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge in Alamo burned 130 acres on Monday and was 95% contained before 6 p.m. Fire Chief David Simmons said the blaze, fought by 20 firefighters amid dry conditions, is a warning of a high fire season and that air support may be requested if it grows — firefighters are also watching for embers from across the border.
