ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Strong winds hindered efforts as firefighters from six agencies battled a brush fire in an empty field off Shary Road and Military Highway Tuesday—Fire Chief Juan Gloria said the dry grass and red flag warnings meant teams expected to work for several more hours to keep hot spots from flaring up. - ➤ Local bartender Lorenzo Garcia is featured in the documentary Shaken and Stirred: The Story of Flair Bartending, which follows bartenders in the Rio Grande Valley; he now manages The Laboratory Agave House in Brownsville and aims to inspire the next generation of local talent. The film will premiere on March 25 at the Beverly Theatre in Las Vegas — Garcia called the selection a great honor. KRGV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A wildfire from Mexico crossed into Hidalgo County and burned over 100 acres near Valverde Road and the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, with firefighters from Alamo, Pharr, and Donna working since this morning to contain it at 50% containment. Hidalgo County has issued a burn ban, and crews are in a mop-up phase—ensuring the fire does not flare up again. FOX RGV

- ➤ A deputy from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office was honored by county commissioners after he rescued a 60-year-old man from a burning mobile home in McAllen on February 22—he was off duty when he acted and received a proclamation for his bravery. KRGV
