EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cosmetology students at South Texas College are providing free haircuts, up dos, pedicures, facials and more to community members at the Cosmetology Center on 1506 East Griffin Parkway in Mission. The free services are available Monday through Thursday and give students practice in talking with clients—helping them build skills for a future in cosmetology. KRGV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildfires have swept through the Rio Grande Valley, forcing the evacuation of 200 homes and the deployment of over 600 firefighters as dry, windy conditions spread the flames. Local officials urged residents to use caution with open flames and have halted burn permits until the winds calm down—steps taken to protect homes and land. FOX RGV
