- ➤ A Cameron County deputy shot and injured 27-year-old Lazaro Noe Ramirez in San Benito on March 18 at about 1 a.m. after Ramirez refused commands to drop his 9mm handgun—he was arraigned on a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant with bond set at $45,000 and was hospitalized for eight days. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Severe thunderstorms brought record rainfall to the Rio Grande Valley on March 26, flooding McAllen, Brownsville, and Harlingen—and breaking century-old records—while causing damage and canceling some schools. Local officials opened emergency shelters in Pharr and South Texas Health System redirected walk-ins as the National Weather Service warns a flood watch remains into today. MyRGV.com
