- ➤ The Peñitas freeway loop was closed until further notice after an 18-wheeler lost control and fell off—pushing a Camaro off the highway and causing both drivers to be hospitalized as a precaution, according to Police Chief Roel Bermea. KRGV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Matt’s Building Materials is accepting flood recovery program applications to help Rio Grande Valley homeowners repair damage from a Thursday thunderstorm. Homeowners must apply in person at four locations with a valid photo ID + damage photos and a utility bill, and once approved the program will offer steep discounts on drywall, insulation, flooring, and doors for 120 days. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Valley International Airport in Harlingen reopened Monday, March 31 after flood damage—morning flights were canceled while officials reported that full operations resumed by the afternoon and travelers were urged to confirm with their airlines. FOX RGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Juarez-Lincoln Huskies are one win away from their first state semifinal since 2017—set to play Liberty Hill at 6:00 p.m. in San Antonio. Head coach Victor Ramos said the tough season taught the team to work harder for the postseason. KRGV
- ➤ The RGV Vipers will begin their postseason on the road tonight in Salt Lake City at 8:00 p.m. after a 9-4 record in March earned them the final playoff spot in the G League Western Conference—Vipers forward Jermaine Samuels said recent matchups helped prepare the team for this round. KRGV
- ➤ Former district foes Hidalgo and Progreso boys soccer teams will face off tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Mercedes for a spot in the state semifinal.
