- ➤ A Weslaco man named Cristian Puentes—29—was booked on March 19 on charges of injuring an elderly person in a landlord-tenant dispute, and his bond was set at $1 million after 78-year-old Vidal Cruz died from blunt force trauma to the head on the 2900 block of Hermosillo Street. KRGV
- ➤ McAllen police reported a hit-and-run accident near East Thomas and McColl Road late last night when a pickup truck cut off a motorcyclist who was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries—witnesses are asked to help identify the driver. FOX RGV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Up-and-coming music artist Octavio Gonzalez—known as Tavo Rayo—is showcasing Rio Grande Valley talent with songs that mix local slang and diverse genres. He will play two sold-out shows with 3BallMTY in McAllen in June to honor one of his mother's last wishes. KRGV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ PSJA ISD has offered relief assistance for students and families affected by flooding since April 1 and will continue support until April 4. Relief services include wellness checks, counseling and storm damage reporting at Carmen Anaya Elementary at 100 West Dicker Road and Graciela Garcia Elementary at 1002 West Juan Balli; donation drives for essential items will run at Dr. Daniel P. King College and University Center at 704 West Ridge Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. KRGV
