- ➤ Federal authorities arrested 18-year-old Roma man Vicente Garcia Jr. on Tuesday for his alleged role in a fatal smuggling incident in Edcouch on March 28th that drowned a woman and a 14-year-old child — he is charged with transporting people illegally in a vehicle resulting in death and a second suspect from McAllen was also arrested. - ➤ Jury selection has begun for the murder trial of Rigoberto Resendez Jr.—accused of fatally beating Alfredo Ontiveros in 2000 after his arrest at an international bridge in May 2023; the trial date remains pending. FOX RGV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Between March 26 and March 28, a severe storm struck the Rio Grande Valley and caused at least six deaths from lightning, fires and drowning—hundreds of residents were rescued by emergency teams from flooded roads and homes.
