- ➤ A jury convicted Rigoberto Reséndez Jr. of aggravated assault in the 2000 killing of Alfredo Ontiveros—sentencing is set for next Tuesday—confirming a verdict in a 25-year-old case. FOX RGV
- ➤ A Mexican man pleaded guilty to guiding a Guatemalan man across the Rio Grande on July 12, 2024—after a brush guide, Perla Lucero Herrera-Serrano, left the victim, he died at a McAllen hospital on July 17. MyRGV.com

- ➤ FOX RGV is offering a contest for four free tickets to Disney On Ice: Let’s Dance scheduled from April 23–27 at Payne Arena in Hidalgo; residents can enter starting today at 5:00 a.m. until April 23 at 11:59 p.m. with a winner chosen on or about April 24 who must reply within 48 hours. FOX RGV

- ➤ CBP agents at Veterans International Bridge intercepted a Diabrotica beetle in a palm foliage shipment from Mexico and reexported the shipment to prevent damage to crops (this marks the first recorded interception of the species at the border). FOX RGV
