- ➤ TxDOT closed the westbound ITA ramp near Sugar Road on April 21 and will keep it closed until April 25 to repair concrete and railings; the frontage road is reduced to a single lane (drivers in Hidalgo County should allow extra travel time). FOX RGV
- ➤ Early voting for the May 3 election begins today in the Valley, with Hidalgo County polling sites open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Cameron County locations open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—mail ballot applications must be received by today. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Channel 5 News, Noticias RGV and Take 5 are educating local residents about diabetes prevention and treatment this April while offering a 360-degree look at the diabetes epidemic in both English and Spanish. South Texas Health System spokesman Tom Castaneda explains the ABCs of managing diabetes and HEB with South Texas Health Systems are offering free diabetes screenings in April — a bilingual effort — to help residents learn about their health risks.
