- ➤ The Texas Longest Yard Sale will mark its 10th anniversary from May 2-4 along U.S. 281 from the Rio Grande Valley to Texas Hill Country. Organizer Yolanda Almaguer, who launched the event in 2015, said it will grow as more vendors and shoppers join—boosting local participation each year. MyRGV.com

- ➤ A 41-year-old Illinois woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison for causing a fiery four-vehicle crash in Edinburg on April 23rd, 2024—this crash killed Wisconsin resident Jeremy John Hess and Edinburg resident Sergio Delgado. MyRGV.com

- ➤ Hidalgo County District Attorney Terry Palacios said he supports House Bill 1552 that would change the term child pornography to child sexual abuse material to better reflect the harm done to children—this bill passed the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence on April 18 by a 10—1 vote and aims to improve child protection.
