ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Sunday morning, a fire spread from a home on Datil Avenue to a neighboring house, leaving one family with severe damage to their home (losing furniture and irreplaceable belongings) as firefighters controlled the blaze in about 30 minutes and officials began investigating the cause. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV women's golf team will play in the Tallahassee Regional from May 11 to 13 at the Seminole Legacy golf club in Florida as part of the NCAA Tournament, with the top five teams set to advance to the NCAA Championship. KRGV
- ➤ Pitcher Francisco Juarez (a three year letterman with an ERA under 3.00) is set to lead Pioneer High's Diamondbacks into the postseason with hopes of reaching the state tournament after signing with Nelson University on April 1 to boost his skills for a future D1 program. KRGV
- ➤ Soccer star Layla Rodriguez — a three-time All-District selection with 11 shutouts and a 22 to 6 season — has signed with Southwestern University and will continue her defensive play in collegiate soccer. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV baseball pulled off a major upset with a 9-7 win over #6 Oregon State in Corvallis on Wednesday night. The historic win marks the Vaqueros' first top-10 victory since 2019 and sets the stage for the final SLC series on Friday. KRGV
