EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 24, the 2022-23 TEA ratings showed Hidalgo County school districts earned two A ratings—South Texas ISD and Vanguard Public Charter School earned A ratings—and ten B ratings, four C ratings including Mission, and two D ratings. District leaders said they will work with teachers and add extra support to boost future scores. MyRGV.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hidalgo County held a special ceremony for the grand opening of its new courthouse on Thursday. The seven-story building—featuring both elevators and an escalator system—is seen as a sign of community growth, and county court activities were suspended as the move was finalized. KRGV
- ➤ On May 1, 2025, a large crowd gathered at the new Hidalgo County Courthouse in Edinburg for its ribbon cutting ceremony. Officials said the building—whose construction began in 2018—now stands as a center for justice in the county. MyRGV.com
