ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hidalgo County has increased surveillance in rural areas including Edinburg after a man was caught illegally dumping tires and trash. • Local governments are distributing sandbags and advising residents to clear streets to help prevent flooding from severe weather later this weekend — they are also checking generators and water pumps. Officials are securing loose outdoor items and mobilizing military trucks — these steps aim to support rescue efforts if storms cause damage.  FOX RGV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Border Patrol increased enforcement on the southern border last month by prosecuting over 3,000 cases, with 1,200 in the Rio Grande Valley — a shift that sends immigrants further into Mexico instead of back to the border.
