- ➤ Latin Grammy winner Carín León will perform back-to-back shows today and tomorrow at Hidalgo’s Payne Arena as part of his DeSonora Para El Mundo Tour 2026—he recently released his new album MUDA. MyRGV.com
- ➤ Brownsville native Oscar Casares is writing about Valley life through his acclaimed books and essays, celebrating family, border culture, and authentic local experiences. The UT Austin creative writing professor is partnering with musician Carrie Rodriguez for a unique show that brings these stories to life in the community. KRGV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Community Action Corporation of South Texas is offering free in-home help for Rio Grande Valley families applying for Medicaid and CHIP coverage in Mission. Residents can call 956-453-1420 (or 361-238-4899) to get support. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The PSJA Lady Bears will play a best-of-three state semifinal against the Katy Lady Tigers on Thursday in Corpus Christi, with Game 2 on Friday and a deciding Game 3 on Saturday if needed. The team holds a perfect 7-0 record and said game times may adjust for weather. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV golfer Jorge Martin Sampedro (a freshman from Spain) qualified for the NCAA National Tournament after scoring 208 at the Bryan Regional on Tuesday. The tournament will be held from May 29 to June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad. KRGV
- ➤ On Tuesday, May 19, the RGV 4A soccer All-Star Game showcased high school talent from both boys & girls teams at local fields. Fans experienced skilled plays and solid sportsmanship during the event. KRGV
