- ➤ UTRGV freshman golfer Jorge Martin Sampedro has qualified for the NCAA National Tournament in California after finishing top in the regional tournament. He is the first Division I qualifier from the university since 1978 and his team credits the milestone to enhanced program facilities. KRGV
- ➤ Economedes soccer players Jose Villarreal and Jose Rios signed with Jarvis University after finishing their high school season. Rios, District 31-6A Goalkeeper of the Year, and Villarreal, a two-year captain and District 3-6A MVP, look forward to college soccer. KRGV
