ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A sinkhole on Jara Chinas Road in La Joya has closed the road as officials say it may be linked to a gas line issue—crews from the utility will inspect the site before repairs begin and drivers are asked to use alternate routes. KRGV
- ➤ A sinkhole on Jara Chinas Road in La Joya (between Mile 13 and Mile 14) forced a road closure as initial inspections point to a gas line issue; local crews will begin repairs once the gas company gives clearance (update expected). KRGV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Palm View PD is searching for three suspects—one man and two women—in a robbery at Whataburger on East Palma Vista Drive that occurred between 2:30 and 2:45 a.m. on May 17th, where a vehicle was stolen and a victim’s foot was run over. FOX RGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mission CISD and the City of Mission are swapping land to build retention ponds near Castro and Bryan Elementary for flood prevention—helping keep streets safe for students while the city covers construction costs. The exchange also provides the district with overflow parking from land donated by the city. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ La Villa's two-time state champion Kaycei Salazar signed with Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday morning to run track. She set an 800 meter state record and won three regional events — a move that shows her rising talent in track. KRGV
