- ➤ Hidalgo County law enforcement agencies held the 6th Annual World Elder Abuse Parade in Edinburg Wednesday to raise awareness of elder abuse—part of a month-long effort after over 1,000 cases were logged in 2024, county District Attorney Terry Palacios said. The parade began at the Bert Ogden Arena parking lot and a candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night at McAllen Performing Arts Center at 700 Houston Avenue. KRGV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Angelina Resendiz, a 21-year-old Navy sailor with Valley ties, was found dead in a Norfolk neighborhood on Monday night — authorities detained another sailor in connection with her death as the investigation continues with pending autopsy results while her family seeks justice. FOX RGV
- ➤ The family of 21-year-old U.S. Navy sailor Angelina Resendiz from Brownsville said they demand answers after her body, found Monday in a wooded area near Norfolk Naval Station in Virginia, raised questions over handling the case while she was last seen on May 29 and an unidentified sailor is in pretrial confinement with pending charges. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Mission signed an agreement with Agua Special Utility District to provide water to customers during emergencies if the district system shuts off. The two systems are connected—when needed, the city will charge Agua SUD $2.50 per thousand gallons over the $1.85 it pays—to earn 65 cents per gallon. KRGV
