CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Progreso ISD school board president Juan Jose Ramos Jr. was arrested on Thursday, June 19 for public intoxication and possession of controlled substances when Weslaco police found six bottles of Michelob Ultra in his car—and a dollar bill with cocaine in his wallet during booking. KRGV
- ➤ A man was arrested Thursday morning in Palmview in connection with a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred Wednesday after 9 p.m. on the 200 block of El Ranchito Road in Mission — police said the victim died at the scene after being hit by an SUV that fled. KRGV
- ➤ Angelina Resendiz, a Brownsville sailor found dead near her naval base in Virginia on June 9, will return home today at 8 p.m. for full military honors with funeral services and a candlelight vigil scheduled on June 27 — an unidentified Navy sailor faces charges in connection with her death. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Texas Department of Transportation Pharr District reminded Valley drivers today to watch for motorcyclists as summer has brought more riders onto the road—nine motorcyclist deaths have been recorded this year compared to eight last year, and drivers are urged to check mirrors and blind spots before turning. The agency also advised riders to wear helmets and drive defensively to reduce the risk of crashes. MyRGV.com
