CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Local police investigated a death at an apartment on the 200 block of Sam Houston after a welfare concern at 2:15 p.m., detaining an unidentified man whose connection to the case remains unclear. FOX RGV
- ➤ Three teenagers aged 13, 15, and 17 were arrested after vandalizing Lyons Park—opened in January—in which restrooms suffered shattered mirrors and destroyed dispensers over the past weekend, and police boosted 24/7 surveillance and patrols while urging parents to discuss respect for public property. FOX RGV
- ➤ Mission police charged 29-year-old Caleb Jeremiah Ramos with murder after he killed his 31-year-old friend Marcos Macias on June 18 in the 200 block of El Ranchito Road during an hours-long dispute between Vallucos gang members, with Ramos driving a Cadillac Escalade that left tire marks at the scene and now remaining held on a 2-million-dollar bond. - ➤ On June 20th, ICE and federal partners raided a worksite in San Benito + detaining seven undocumented workers from the Rio Grande Valley, with one previously deported now facing criminal charges. FOX RGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Commissioner David Fuentes said plans for the Delta Region Water Management Project that will capture and treat flood water in the area have received $15 million and now benefit from Senate Bill 1967, which lets the county apply for extra grants. He said it will take three to four years before water becomes available — the first treatment plant is set at $70 million with $45 million already raised. KRGV
