Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 4th of July.
Good morning, Mission.
🏛️ Government
Hidalgo County law enforcement has launched a No Refusal campaign for the Fourth of July weekend to quickly obtain blood-test warrants on drivers who refuse breathalyzers — officials urge drivers to plan a safe ride if drinking to avoid steep penalties in DWI cases.
🏥 Health
South Texas may face a risk from the New World screwworm outbreak because a longtime shortage of food animal veterinarians limits livestock inspections; a report on local veterinary capacity will be complete by December and legislative funding is pending in January (USDA and rural programs also support efforts).
