CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The FBI is investigating Taco Ole in Mission after an ICE raid on Thursday morning on Conway Avenue and FM 495 as Homeland Security Investigations helped agents from ICE, DEA, Texas DPS, and the FBI conduct court authorized activity near W. Freddy Gonzalez Drive and San Raul Avenue—officials gave no further details. KRGV
- ➤ Mission resident Elizabeth Batten, former finance director at McCreery Aviation (2019–2023), pleaded guilty to mail fraud for diverting $1.2 million in company funds for personal expenses using blank checks and the Postal Service and faces sentencing on October 7 with a $1.91 million restitution order and potential penalties of up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. - ➤ On Thursday, Leadership Mission Class 41 unveiled a new communication board at Bannworth Park — featuring 72 pictures and phrases in English and Spanish to help children with verbal or visual impairments communicate. KRGV
- ➤ Over $170 million in final Fiscal Year 2025 Title I funds were released today for South Texas schools, with $170,337,465 allocated among districts in the 34th Congressional District, including Edinburg and McAllen — according to Congressman Vicente Gonzalez.
