- ➤ The City of Mission hosted its annual Back to School Bash to strengthen community ties, celebrate students returning to class, and educate parents on safety while local officers engaged with the community. Officers reassured residents — demonstrating their commitment to a safe school year. FOX RGV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Grind Coffee Co. opened a second location on Nolana Avenue in McAllen after nine years on University Drive in Edinburg—offering our community a fresh space to enjoy quality coffee. Owner Maryann Pinon said the new shop will help customers remember their first Grind experience and add to the growth of local coffee shops. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers crossing into Mexico at the Progreso International Bridge will pay more when the toll rises from $4 to $5 on Friday, Aug. 1. Taxi driver Sandra Garcia said she will raise her fare from $10 to $15 for daily trips—residents and tourists note the extra dollar is a small change while officials did not respond. KRGV
- ➤ Mission city leaders and the Economic Development Corporation are discussing a plan for Cimarron Golf Course, which closed three years ago. They will sell the course and run it as a private country club while council members meet with an attorney behind closed doors (city spokesperson Sydney Hernandez confirmed this) (the corporation now oversees renovations and marketing efforts).
