HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ During National Cholesterol Education Month, DHR Health cardiologist Dr. Christian Avalos advises residents to get a lipid panel to check cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart attack and stroke (nearly 2 in 5 adults have high cholesterol). MyRGV.com
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV head football coach Travis Bush said the Vaqueros are preparing for their first road game against Prairie View A&M (set for Saturday at 6:00 p.m.) after their shutout win over Sul Ross State, and he said the team will focus on generating its own energy to counter a veteran opponent. KRGV
- ➤ The UTRGV men's soccer team will host Oral Roberts tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV soccer and track field complex—this young team with many freshmen and sophomores is building chemistry ahead of conference play. KRGV
- ➤ The UTRGV Vaqueros volleyball team is hosting the Southwest Showdown tournament today at 6:30 p.m. against Texas State and will face UTEP on Friday — both opponents in last year’s NCAA tournament — while head coach Todd Lowery expects the team to limit mistakes. KRGV
