➤ A suspect linked to a 1:47 a.m. Mission shooting that left Felipe Mancilla dead was found during a 7 a.m. search at an Alton home and opened fire on deputies—deputies returned fire and killed him while one officer was injured. KRGV

➤ UTRGV Vaqueros got their first Division I win and first road victory by beating Prairie View A&M Panthers with a game-winning drive and a key fumble recovery. They led early with a 17-0 score and will return home on Saturday, September 13 to play Langston. KRGV
