HEALTH NEWS

  • Hidalgo County warned residents that over 60 children at four schools have been affected by hand—foot—and mouth disease; health officials advise parents to watch for symptoms and care for sick children at home with Tylenol or Motrin until they are fever-free and their blisters improve.  KRGV

  • UTRGV equipment manager Luis Mendoza— a Mission native— ensures that players have helmets, cleats, and shoulder pads for each practice and road trip in changing weather. He prepares gear for roughly 100 players and staff ahead of games including Saturday's match against the Langston Lions.  KRGV
  • Frank Medina and Fabian Garcia, two San Benito natives who played together in high school, helped boost UTRGV’s Vaqueros offense last Saturday—Medina started on the offensive line while Garcia rushed for a touchdown—reaffirming their strong ties to the Valley.  KRGV
  • UTRGV Athletics Director Chasse Conque told the KRGV Sports Team that the Vaqueros are 2-0—mentioning the upcoming match with the Langston Lions.  KRGV
  • UTRGV head football coach Travis Bush spoke with Channel 5 News about the team's upcoming match with the Langston Lions — the Vaqueros are 2-0 this season and will face a tough game when they play next.  KRGV
  • UTRGV Vaqueros beat the Langston Lions 80 to 0 on Saturday night and moved to 3 to 0 on the season — Eddie Lee Marburger tossed three touchdown passes and key running plays boosted scoring before backups finished the game, and the team will face Texas Wesleyan on September 20.  KRGV
