ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Funeral services for Colin Feltis, a South Texas ISD Science Academy student killed in an October 21 crash in Donna, will include visitation on Monday, October 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Legacy Chapels (4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg) and a funeral on Tuesday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Palm Valley Church (3300 South McColl Road in Edinburg), with attendees asked to wear tropical shirts. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV Associate Athletic Director Julia Perez works with Vaqueros student-athletes to plan fall schedules and arrange tutoring appointments—support that helps them balance academics and sports. The new Performance Center offers a quiet study space with computers—ensuring students get the help they need in class. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Gunnar Henderson, a former McHi standout (he played at Incarnate Word and TCU), has returned to the Valley to coach UTRGV wide receivers and will face his old team Incarnate Word on Saturday. He was invited to a New Orleans Saints minicamp before coaching and his cousin Finn now plays as a senior receiver at McHi. KRGV
- ➤ Southland Conference Commissioner Christ Grant (the conference official) spoke yesterday in the Rio Grande Valley about the UTRGV Vaqueros football inaugural season. He answered key questions (reported by KRGV Sports) during his media tour. KRGV
- ➤ On October 25, the UTRGV Vaqueros held a football practice with Outside Linebackers Coach James Lockhart IV guiding a defensive drill—KRGV Sports Team observed the session for key insights. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV Vaqueros beat the reigning Incarnate Word Cardinals 56—28 on Saturday night, with quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger throwing 440 yards and seven touchdowns while wide receiver Tony Diaz set a program record with 17 receptions for 172 yards. The win improved the Vaqueros’ conference record to 2—2 and dropped the Cardinals to 0—4 as they prepare to face #24 Stephen F. Austin at 6:00 p.m. on November 1. KRGV
- ➤ Weslaco High School Football Coach Roy Stroman said the Panthers are 3-0 in district play and that talks are underway to host the RGVCA All-Star game on January 10 at UTRGV — his comments come as the season gains local attention. KRGV
