- ➤ Federal food assistance payments will not be made Saturday due to the ongoing government shutdown. More than 329,000 residents in the Rio Grande Valley who rely on SNAP may have their cards not reloaded on November 1 if the shutdown continues — state data shows different monthly payment amounts by county. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The RGV Diabetes Association is leading the fight against diabetes by launching new education and support efforts to help local residents manage their health—its programs aim to lower risk factors and improve outcomes in the community. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Channel 5 News airs Playmakers every Tuesday at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.—a series that spotlights Texas high school football's top players by presenting detailed game stats and performance highlights. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV volleyball will face Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a home-and-away series as it seeks to extend its eight-game win streak. The team will play today at 6:30 p.m. in Edinburg and will travel on Saturday at 1 p.m. to Corpus Christi. KRGV
