GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT will begin negotiating in May with state-certified appraisers to buy land along the proposed State Highway 68 route (from US 83/I-2 to US 281/I-69C) designed to ease traffic in the mid-Valley, affecting homeowners such as local resident Rogelio Morales. Homeowners may provide counteroffers as the department works to set fair compensation for properties that may be impacted. KRGV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The UTRGV men's golf team finished third in the SLC tournament in Kerrville today, ending with five under par in round three. Taj Sutherlend led the team (shooting eight under par in the final round) as the season ended while Augusta will move on to the NCAA Tournament. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV catcher Steven Lancia was named on Wednesday to the Buster Posey Award watch list — he logged 16 caught runners along with a .320 batting average, three home runs and 27 RBI. Finalists will be revealed on June 4 and a winner announced on June 26. KRGV
